The Society's recently conducted, member-requested survey on board/director travel practices yielded approximately 152 responses and these noteworthy results - among others:
• About half say that their board/director travel arrangements are made by the company; the other half say board/director travel arrangements are made by the individual directors (or the directors' staff).
• About 44% reimburse full travel expenses; 35% reimburse at a First-Class rate; and 16% reimburse at a Business Class rate. Only 8% reimburse at Coach rates.
• About one third have a corporate jet or use a jet on a subscription basis for board/director travel. Of those, approximately half offer the jet for travel to/from all company board meetings.
• For those directors with access to private aircraft, companies reimburse directors using that aircraft for travel to/from company meetings at a slightly higher rate than companies that don't reimburse in that case.
As noted in the survey report, numerous respondents also agreed to share information about their company's practices with other Society members upon request.
