As expected, President Trump designated SEC Commissioner Piwowar as the agency's Acting Chair pending confirmation of Mary Jo White's successor - anticipated to be Trump nominee Jay Clayton, whom Republicans reportedly strongly support.

Reuters reports that Clayton's meetings with Senate Banking Committee Chair Michael Crapo and other Republicans have been positive, and that Clayton's confirmation hearing could take place as early as the week of February 6th.
