Equally beneficial for management in connection with its ERM and strategic planning responsibilities, EY's "Anticipating and planning for geopolitical and regulatory changes" (online here) does a nice job of suggesting a structure for the board's oversight of geopolitical and regulatory risks in the context of a particularly challenging and quickly-evolving macro-environment. Among the memo's instructive, tangible take-aways that can facilitate the identification, evaluation, and disposition of risks and appropriate consideration in corporate strategy are the annotated PESTLE Analysis (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, and Environmental) framework, two user-friendly "board's role" flowcharts, and a list of questions for the board to consider.
