The SEC invited public comment on its newly-published 5-year draft strategic plan. The plan encompasses these three broad goals, each of which is supported by specific initiatives:
- GOAL 1. Focus on the long-term interests of our Main Street investors.
- GOAL 2. Recognize significant developments and trends in our evolving capital markets and adjust our efforts to ensure we are effectively allocating our resources.
- GOAL 3. Elevate the SEC’s performance by enhancing our analytical capabilities and human capital development.
Notable initiatives include disclosure effectiveness, and identifying and addressing outdated SEC rules and approaches, associated with Goals #1 and #2, respectively.
