Senate Banking Holds Hearing on SEC Commissioner Candidate Elad Roisman

By Randi Morrison posted 07-24-2018 04:11 PM

The Senate Banking Committee held a hearing today on the nomination of Elad Roisman, whom President Trump nominated in early June to succeed SEC Commissioner Piwowar (reported on here).

Among the noteworthy takeaways: Sen. Jack Reed [D-RI] asked Roisman if he was open to having the SEC—through rulemaking—implement the provisions of the cyber disclosure bill he sponsored - S. 536 "Cybersecurity Disclosure Act" - which we reported on here. Although Mr. Roisman didn't commit to specific rulemaking, he agreed on the importance of issuer cybersecurity risk disclosure and the overall objective of strengthening disclosures. An archived version of the hearing will be available on the Banking Committee's website shortly.

See Roisman's Statement, and stay tuned to the weekly Society Alert for more information.
