Employees, Companies Focused on Gender Pay Equity

Pearl Meyer's "Communicating Compensation" survey revealed that - among other things - employees appear much more focused on gender pay equity than CEO pay ratio-related disclosures. Only 9% of the 244 company respondents reported fielding employee questions on the CEO pay ratio's disclosure of median employee pay compared to 21% of respondents fielding questions on gender pay equity, and an additional 41% of respondents who said they expect to field questions on gender pay equity in the future.

Based on the survey results, it appears that companies are preparing accordingly: 30% say they have clear/detailed information to share with employees on gender pay equity and an additional 48% say they have drafts, but are not ready to share. Of those anticipating that this topic could be an issue for their company in the future, 18% said they have a clear/detailed plan to address it, and an additional 64% said they have a draft plan, but are not fully prepared.
