What's on the Nom/Gov Committee Agenda?

Spencer Stuart's survey of 177 Nom/Gov Committee members between May and June of 2018 revealed these noteworthy results:

  • Average number of directors expected to retire/join boards in each of the next 3 years is 1
  • Highest-priority board recruiting profiles are: (i) Women (62%), (ii) Active CEO/COO (49%), and (iii) Tech (48%)
  • 66% say their committee considered or is considering directors aged 50 years or younger.
  • The most in-demand skills/qualifications for younger directors are: (i) Tech (32%), (ii) Digital (21%), and (iii) Social Media (8%).
  • 39% of board have used a tool or retained a consultant to help assess board culture.
  • Top 3 issues to be addressed over the next 3 years are board evaluations (75%), board diversity (74%), and board leadership (48%). Ranked last: "Number of board committees" - at 18%.
