Argyle's new "Communicating Gender Diversity" provides examples of recent proxy statement, annual report, or similar disclosures that illustrate each of the six components of State Street Global Advisors' board gender diversity framework set forth in its "Guidance of Enhancing Gender Diversity on Boards" (reported on here).
As previously reported, SSGA announced that beginning in 2020 it will begin voting against all Nom/Gov Committee members of US, UK and Australian portfolio company boards that don't have at least one woman and haven't engaged in "successful dialogue" with SSGA on this topic for three consecutive years. Last year, it voted against more than 500 UK/US/Australian companies that had no women on their boards and had failed to take any action to improve their board diversity despite SSGA's engagement; a noteworthy 84% of the 152 companies that added a woman to their board in response to SSGA's engagement last year were US-based.
