SEC Commissioner Jackson Likely to Remain Beyond June 5 Term Expiration

Further to this week's Society Alert reporting on an April 16th WSJ article on SEC Commissioner Jackson's relatively near-term departure from the Commission, we understand that Commissioner Jackson is likely to remain at the Commission for some time after his term expires in June 2019. While we don't know how long beyond the June term expiration he will remain, as reported in the Alert, Commissioners can - and often do - remain in the position for 18 months after their terms expire if they are not replaced before then.

We recently reported that President Trump announced his intent to nominate Allison Herren Lee - who previously served at the SEC in various roles, including as counsel to former Commissioner Kara Stein - for Commissioner Stein's seat, which was vacated in January - the maximum 18 months beyond her 5-year term that expired June 2017.
