Further to our January report: "Thirty Percent Coalition Campaigns to Increase Women of Color on Boards," the Thirty Percent Coalition - in partnership with the Nathan Cummings Foundation - launched the first-ever national awareness campaign aimed at increasing the number of women of color to corporate boards. The launch included this letter to S&P 1500 companies outlining why representation on the board by women of color is important and informing them of forthcoming opportunities to meet qualified candidates via a series of targeted regional meetings this fall.
The release and letter note that women of color represent nearly 40% of the US female population and buying power of more than $1 trillion, but make up just 3.5% of S&P 1500 directors.
