According to recent benchmarking on big company (Dow 30 & Fortune 50 combined) proxy statement disclosure practices conducted by Society member Argyle, an overwhelming 74% of companies disclose board committee responsibility for sustainability oversight in their proxy statements, and 61% discuss board oversight.
Additional noteworthy disclosure statistics for this big company group include (among many others):
- 64% provide a link directly to their corporate sustainability webpages and 59% provide a direct link to their most recent sustainability report.
- 63% of the companies that include a letter from leadership (e.g., board chair) discuss a sustainability theme in their letter.
- 59% of companies identify one or more sustainability themes as an area of risk oversight.
- 52% of companies discuss a sustainability theme as a subject of shareholder engagement or area of feedback.
- 54% of companies provide sustainability achievement data.
- 66% of companies discuss environmental impact.
- 51% discuss diversity & inclusion, and 26% discuss human capital management.
