A recent survey conducted by Morning Consult among a nationally representative sample of 2,200 US adults* reveals instructive insights on experiences and perceptions of remote work practices, which have exploded as a result of the pandemic.
- More than half of adults who are able to work remotely believe that virtual meetings are at least as effective as in-person meetings, and one-third said they participate more during virtual meetings as compared to in-person meetings.
- Among current remote workers, the pros of remote work outweigh the cons, as shown here:
- More than 75% of adults able to work remotely said that - ideally, they would like to work from home at least 1 - 2 days/week; nearly a third said they would like to work from home every day.
- Asked what view is closest to their opinion, nearly a third (31%) of current remote workers said they would not return to an office until a vaccine is available; another 22% expressed no opinion. If their office announced they could return to work starting next week, 50% said they would be somewhat or very uncomfortable returning to the office.
* Respondents include 482 adults who are currently working remotely and 1,066 adults who have careers where remote work is possible; i.e., members of the workforce who are likely to have jobs where remote work is possible, even if they are not doing so currently.
