Clermont Partners' review of the committee charters of 172 generally top-rated MSCI ESG-rated companies that cited board-level ESG oversight identified a standalone sustainability-focused committee and the Nom/Gov committee as the most common board E&S oversight committees, as shown here:

The report elaborates on common Governance, Sustainability, and Audit committee charter responsibilities and provides small-cap, mid-cap, and large-cap examples of each, as well as a tabular summary of three ESG raters' (ISS, MSCI and Sustainalytics) methodology for evaluating E&S Board oversight of enumerated E&S policy areas.
