Virtual Meeting "Zoomthink"? Consider These Measures

Fast Company's "How to fight the groupthink that happens when we work virtually" explains why virtual meetings can foster groupthink (dubbed "Zoomthink") more so than traditional in-person meetings and suggests steps companies can take to actively counter or reduce this behavior. Among the culprits: virtual meeting burnout, which tempers meaningful engagement; assumptions and presumptions based on communication modes that may impede important informational cues, such as body language; and dominating personalities that may be more difficult to curb online. The suggested action items are worth consideration regardless of whether your organization has diagnosed a virtual meeting-prompted groupthink problem.
