Virtual Meeting "Zoomthink"? Consider These Measures

Fast Company's "
How to fight the groupthink that happens when we work virtually
" explains why virtual meetings can foster groupthink (dubbed "Zoomthink") more so than traditional in-person meetings and suggests steps companies can take to actively counter or reduce this behavior. Among the culprits: virtual meeting burnout, which tempers meaningful engagement; assumptions and presumptions based on communication modes that may impede important informational cues, such as body language; and dominating personalities that may be more difficult to curb online. The suggested action items are worth consideration regardless of whether your organization has diagnosed a virtual meeting-prompted groupthink problem.
