PwC’s “Unpacking board culture: How behavioral psychology might explain what’s holding boards back” addresses the critical but often underrated (and under-resourced) topic of board culture, which – if left unattended – can render a board ineffective notwithstanding a seemingly ideal board composition. The publication explains four common boardroom (physical or virtual) biases - authority bias, groupthink, status quo bias, and confirmation bias, and associated “red flags”, and suggests board practices to minimize or prevent the potentially destructive behaviors.
