Among other insights, KPMG’s “On the 2021 nom/gov committee agenda” suggests boards, and Nom/Gov Committees in particular, take a fresh look at the corporate governance practices, processes, vulnerabilities, and strengths that were sparked or manifested by the pandemic and other significant recent developments with a view toward potential long-term changes to enhance board effectiveness. Ripe for reconsideration in lieu of simply returning to pre-pandemic practices are meeting cadence, duration, format, structure, and formality; the director onboarding process; use of technology; frequency, structure, and scope of management / board interactions and communications tools such as dashboards, and much more.
