Aon’s “U.S. Companies Focus on Four Areas of Human Capital Management (“HCM”) Disclosure” reveals the results of its analysis of 725 Form 10-K HCM disclosures filed since its initial report in January.
- Prevalence - The most commonly disclosed topics (disclosed by more than half of filers) across the 13 categories of disclosure topics Aon identified were COVID-19 health measures, DE&I, compensation & benefits, talent development, collective bargaining, health & safety, and geography.

- Quantitative vs. qualitative - Companies provided quantitative information on disclosures relating to geography; turnover; diversity, equity and inclusion; collective bargaining agreements; engagement; health & safety; and pay equity.
- Industry variations - The most common disclosure topics tended to vary by industry. For example, manufacturing companies addressed collective bargaining and health & safety at a much higher rate than technology companies and financial services companies; technology companies addressed geography at a higher rate than manufacturing companies and at a much higher rate than financial services companies. However, each of the manufacturing, financial services, technology, health care, and consumer discretionary industries averaged disclosure on eight discrete topics.
The report includes bar charts that show the prevalence of disclosure by industry across all of the 13 disclosure categories.
