Practical ESG Engagement Tips

This new “ESG Engagement Guidebook – 56 Pro Tips!” authored jointly by Broc Romanek and Carlow Consulting’s Carol Nolan Drake (formerly with the Ohio public pension fund) offers an abundance of practical tips for engaging on ESG matters with, or in response to, employees, investors, proxy advisors, ESG raters, and other stakeholders. The Guidebook addresses sustainability report development and drafting; employee input and buy-in; internal ESG governance leadership and governance structure; investor engagement timing, substance, and follow-up; and more. Although a good portion of the tips are aimed at public companies with ESG-focused investors (which likely includes most of the larger institutional investors), many of the tips are also beneficial to private companies seeking to develop a strategy and disclosure that resonates with the company’s employees and other stakeholders.
