Use of AI for Minutes Drafting

By Randi Morrison posted 07-28-2024 09:17 PM

Largely applicable to all companies wherever based notwithstanding the local bent, this new paper from the Governance Institute of Australia—“Artificial Intelligence (AI) and board minutes"—imparts numerous principles and key considerations relating to the use of AI to generate board/board committee meeting minutes, as well as pre-meeting outlines or “shells” based on the agenda and planned action items. Aside from more widely publicized risks commonly associated with AI, potential adverse implications in the minute-generating context specifically include changing the behavior and the nature of the dialogue among directors who know their meetings are being recorded, among other risks.

The paper notes other possible AI use cases for the corporate secretarial function that pose minimal risk if responsibly managed.
