Advocacy: Congress

The Society historically has welcomed bipartisan reforms in Congress to improve the governance frameworks and disclosure environment for public companies. In recent years, the Society has sought to work with staffers and lawmakers from both major parties by, for example, drafting legislation on ownership transparency, proxy advisors, and the creation of a public company advisory committee at the SEC.

Congress

Society representatives have testified several  times in the past decade on various topics, including 13D reform, proxy advisors, insider trading, and shareholder proposals. The Society often acts as a liaison with staffers from different parties in an effort to identify bipartisan support.
