Corporate Social Purpose: Board's Role

Deloitte's new "On the board's agenda: The board's role in corporate social purpose" explains the uptick in investor, customer, and other stakeholder interest in - and scrutiny of - corporate social purpose, associated opportunities for companies that elect to use this trend to their advantage, and how the board may consider discharging its oversight responsibilities in this area under its broader strategic and risk oversight umbrella. Equally instructive for management, the memo includes a handful of thoughtful considerations and trends, and a list of questions for the board to consider that itself could facilitate initial boardroom dialogue or the board's periodic review on this topic.
