TCFD-Based Climate Risk Guide

The Governance Institute of Australia's new "Climate Change Risk Disclosure Guide" - aimed at corporate governance professionals and boards of directors - suggests specific action items that support each of the key action steps outlined in the CDSB/SASB "TCFD Implementation Guide" (see our prior report on that release here at "Climate-Related") for companies to evaluate their exposure to climate change risk with reference to the TCFD Recommendations and, if material, make the recommended disclosures. Although the Guide is aimed at facilitating ASX-listed company compliance with the TCFD-specific commentary accompanying the new materiality-based Recommendation 7.4 (pages 27 - 28) of the ASX Corporate Governance Council’s Corporate Governance Principles & Recommendations (4th edition), it may be instructive for other companies - wherever located - that are exploring TCFD-based disclosure. The Guide includes sample approaches and disclosures from ASX-listed and other non-US companies, as well as contextual and tutorial information concerning climate change generally, and the TCFD framework specifically.
