Illinois Treasurer Michael Frerichs launched an investor initiative calling for all Russell 3000 companies to disclose the race/ethnicity and gender of their directors in their 2021 proxy statements. The 22 investor organizations backing the initiative - which include, e.g., New York City Comptroller, Boston Trust Walden, Segal Marco Advisors, CtW Investment, Trillium Asset Management, and UAW Retiree Medical Benefits Trust, reportedly are considering policies to vote against directors on boards that lack racial/ethnic diversity.
