Reuters reported that 263 climate-related shareholder proposals had been filed as of March 26—reportedly an all-time record.
Ceres, which sourced the data, indicated that negotiated withdrawals accounted for 56 climate-related proposals thus far this season, compared to 83 such agreements in 2023 and 116 in 2022. By topic, proposals seeking GHG reduction goals or climate transition plans are the most prevalent, following by lobbying and political spending proposals:
By sector, Consumer Goods companies have received the most climate-related proposals (72), followed by Financials (59), Industrials (40), and Energy (26) companies.
