Informed by an 18-member working group of in-house and law firm members, the Society submitted this robust response to the GHG Protocol’s public consultation on updates to its Scope 2 Guidance. Key proposed revisions are captured below and described in more detail on pages 16 – 23 of this deck.
The Greenhouse Gas Protocol underpins nearly all major corporate GHG accounting, reporting, and target-setting initiatives, including CDP, GRI, the ISSB Standards, California’s SB 253, and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Feedback in response to the consultation was gathered only in the form of a 183-question online survey (wherein responses could not be saved for completion of the survey in multiple sittings), with other means of feedback not eligible for consideration as part of the public consultation process. The Society thanks all of the members of the working group that enabled us to meaningfully weigh in on this important consultation.
