SEC Invites Comments on Modernizing IPOs

By Randi Morrison posted 4 hours ago

In remarks before Stanford Rock Center for Corporate Governance last week, SEC Chair Atkins indicated that, in addition to recent proposals on semiannual reporting, registered offering reform, and filer status reform, he has charged staff with developing recommendations to modernize the IPO process itself, noting in particular the gun-jumping rules and methods to becoming a public company in addition to the traditional IPO process.

Comments on ways to improve the SEC’s communication or other IPO-related rules or on how the SEC can remove impediments to methods of going public unrelated to a “traditional” IPO are invited through July 27, 2026.
