By Randi Morrison posted an hour ago

On May 29, as expected, the SEC issued a proposed rule to rescind its climate-related disclosure rules adopted in March 2024. Stated grounds supporting rescission, which include the absence of statutory authority, are summarized in the release.

See the Fact Sheet and these statements from SEC Chair Atkins and Commissioners Peirce and Uyeda. Comments on the proposal are due 60 days after publication of the proposing release in the Federal Register. The Society weighed in on rules, which were proposed, in 2022, here, here, and here.
