SEC: Jackson & Peirce Confirmed by the Senate!

Further to our report in yesterday's Society Alert, the nominations of Robert Jackson and Hester Peirce for the Securities and Exchange Commission were confirmed yesterday by a Senate voice vote. In the Alert, we reported that Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) had released her hold on an expedited vote on the nominations based on the candidates' written responses (Jackson, Peirce) to a series of targeted questions she had raised concerning their views on shareholder activism, stock buybacks, and executive pay - clearing the way for a near-term confirmation.
