Corporate Board Member/NextGen Board Leaders Kerie Kerstetter's roundtable dialogue with three under-50 directors provides valuable insights on how to bolster the effectiveness of your recruiting, orientation, onboarding, and board integration practices relating to this expanding new director category.

Thought-worthy considerations include providing a "culture orientation," director mentor, and key committee exposure; refraining from "age stereotyping," i.e., pigeonholing younger directors based on attributes - such as digital experience - typically associated with younger generations; and - relatedly - not equating their relative shorter duration of business and other experience with the absence of meaningful input that frequently is based on a perspective that may likely be closely aligned with a sizeable segment of the company's constituency.
