Bloomberg identifies the 76 S&P 100 companies – compared to 25 companies last year – that have made their EEO-1 data publicly available and the 10 additional companies that reportedly have pledged to do so in the near term. The survey report includes an interactive dashboard that reveals by company the racial/ethnic and gender diversity among three categories of workers derived from the nine EEOC job categories, as follows: (i) Management, inclusive of executive and senior level workers, as well as first/mid level officers; (ii) Professionals, inclusive of professionals and technicians; and (iii) sales workers, administrative staff, operatives, laborers, and service workers.

The report provides this additional data by company:

  • Percentage of all US workers within each of the three categories that are white, Black, Hispanic, and Asian
  • Percentage of all US women workers within each of the three categories that are white, Black, Hispanic, and Asian
  • Whether the company has a specific numerical target for Black representation in its overall workforce (one-third of companies said they do)
  • Whether the company has a chief diversity officer (the vast majority of companies said that they do)
  • Whether the company’s hiring from HBCUs (historically Black colleges & universities) increased in 2020 and 2021 compared with 2019 (more than 40 companies’ hiring increased in one or both years)
  • Whether the company has a partnership with a specific HBCU for a pipeline program to recruit graduates (three-fourths of companies said they do)
  • Whether the board self-identifies by race/ethnicity and/or gender (more than 80% of companies said yes to this question)
  • Whether the company made any pledges for donations or investments in the aftermath of George Floyd’s killing (85 companies said they did so)
  • Whether the company has any quota or target in place for working with minority-owned suppliers (more than half of companies said they do)
