KPMG’s report: “2025 Private Company Board Survey Insights” reveals benchmarking data on numerous private company governance practices based on a recent survey of 274 US private company directors across industries, sizes, and ownership structures (predominantly family-owned (27%), private equity (22%), and founder/entrepreneur (21%)). Coverage, which is helpfully reported out in the Appendix by respondent type, ownership structure, revenue group, and sector, includes the strategic and scenario planning processes and related oversight, and the implications on and use by the company, of GenAI. Notably, a plurality of respondents (31%) reported being unsatisfied with their board’s understanding of the potential impact of GenAI on the company’s business model and strategy.
